the canvas calling

claudia's sketches

the canvas looked at me with a hint of smile

the bristle of the brushes whispered

colors started jumping from the palette

i caught them and soaked them with my passion

they laughed and danced on the canvas

life unfolded by itself with love

i became the mute witness

  2. Arathi, I think your poem has captured something important about the creative process here. Sometimes the paintbrush and canvas DO call out, and one has to heed that call. I really like what you wrote to this picture.

  5. Like words, colors sometimes seem to take on a life of their own. Love the tone and energy of your poem.

  11. I like the line /I caught them & soaked them with my passion/. A canvas does have a voice, just as an empty white sheet of paper does, or a stone does to a sculptor; very nice take on Claudia's sketch.
